Seen and Not Heard

Children should be seen and not heard. Silence is a woman's best garment. Aren't proverbs great? But I'm done with being quiet.

Mother

Not this past weekend, but the one before, we went up to visit my parents. Apparently my mother came down with the flu right after we left, and after three days of getting treated for the flu, was admitted to hospital with pneumonia. My mother gets pneumonia like other people get colds, but I don't like her being in hospital.

Her health isn't great... She's been a smoker since she was 12. She's already lost a third of her lung capacity to a blood clot (not even smoking related, she has a genetic condition that causes her blood to clot too quickly, the opposite of a hemophiliac). She was actually one of the miracles to get someone sainted as a child... which would be a much cooler story if I could remember the details. I'll try get those next weekend... but it's time for work now.

I hope all goes well. I spent my weekend back home taking turns with my mother sitting in my father's hospital room. He had to go in for surgery rather suddenly, but at least he's recovering ahead of schedule.
